Events Scheduled Throughout the Area

The Hocking Hills State Park plans to bring in the New Year with style, offering many activities throughout January and the upcoming months despite the cold weather.

Not only will the Park host activities, but with Logan’s Bicentennial celebration, there will also be many events planned for the Downtown Logan area.

Hocking Hills will be participating in this year’s Audubon winter bird count, organized by Ohio State Park Naturalist Pat Quackenbush.

This is the 116th annual bird count, and tens of thousands of people will participate all over North America, and even in some parts of South America.

The Hocking Hills event is scheduled at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2 at Old Man’s Cave. The group will meet at the naturalist office and divide up the area from there.

The final tally-up will be at 3 p.m. at Camp Oty’Okwa. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch and binoculars, and to dress for the weather. No experience is necessary; participants should contact Quackenbush at 740-385-8003, ext. 213 for more information.
