Live Animal Care
Live Animal Care
Did you know that Hocking Hills State Park maintains an impressive collection of injured raptors and reptiles? Park Naturalist, Jeff Large, oversees the care and feeding of these hawks, owls, snakes, turtles and more. Annually, the Friends Of The Hocking Hills State Park provides valuable financial assistance in order to ensure that the park is able to keep these injured animals fed. In addition, the Friends are also a valuable source of funding for animal care maintenance and supplies, such as cage repair and maintenance, gloves, tools and supplies. Please help us help the park to care for these vulnerable creatures by donating today.

Naturalists Programs
Every year, the Friends of The Hocking Hills State Park provides funding for the park’s large annual special events such as the Winter Hike and the Halloween Campout. The Friends fund the purchase of food to feed workers and volunteers at the Winter Hike, and candy, cocoa and cookies for visitors to the annual Halloween Campout and Christmas at Ash Cave. The annual state budget for the park will not cover these items due to restrictions on using public funds to purchase food. Additionally, the Friends enhance the visitor experience to the park by providing funding for program supplies such as nature craft items, paddling equipment for canoe and kayak classes, night hike equipment and much, much more. Do you have fond memories of attending a park program? If so, a great way to “pay it forward” is to make a contribution today in order to ensure that the Friends can be a continued source of funding for these wonderful programs.
